How much should I drink?

Trade W asked:

I’m a 36-year old male in decent shape. Should I have one alcoholic drink every evening to reduce the likelihood of cardiovascular diseases and heart attacks? There’s no history of that in my family, but is it a good idea anyway? Or should I wait until I’m older to do that? Is there a chance I might become an alcoholic if I drink every day, even if it’s just one drink?
Thanks

well it all really depends how what kind of drink you are drinking and the percentage of alcohol in the drink. I would say try and stay away from liquor and drink red wine and what not. Drinking wine is more helpful than drinking a beer or a shot of vodka,

i believe the idea of drinking “one a day” refers specifically to wine, and even more specifically to red wine. this is because red wine is made from red grapes, which have been shown to dilate blood vessels and relax your veins, allowing better blood flow. alcohol also has this effect. therefore regularly drinking one glass of red wine will allow your blood vessels the daily opportunity to relax and ease your blood flow, decreasing your risk for heart disease

Drinking a lass of red wine or one light a beer will do you good. My father (now in his 70’s) was told do have a beer a day by his doctor for that very same reason. I say go for it.
