Help,My son (7)doesnt like to eat meats and veggies?

***t*** asked:

I cook very balanced meals and my son only likes to eat the carbos in the meals. I made him to eat it on day, but he held it in his mouth for almost 30 minutes crying about swallowing the carrots. Please help. I don’t want him unable to grow properly or get cardiovascular diseases or diabetes because of this. Any advise? Thanks:)

He might have seen someone in the family react unfavorably towards veggies and meat. Social conditioning is one of the drivers of our tastes, specially in food.
You might not like them yourself and your son has tuned into that. Body language says it all.

You can try “disguising” the veggies and meat. mince/puree them and put them in the spaghetti sauce.

What I did when my son went through this stage was I put the vegetables INSIDE the food, such as, meat loaf, I would put peas, carrots, and even some corn in it, it is actually very good and flavorful, he is getting his veggies, and you are trying new recipes! Fun for both of you!

Kids go through eating stages. Often kids will carbo-load when they are or are about to have, a growth spurt.
There are two things you can do here.
One: make sure he takes a multivitamin every day.
Two: hide the good food. We particularly like fruit smoothies in our house. Soups are good, too.
Oh, and three: hang in there! It will be OK!
