with the amount of salt in our diets, fats in our fast food, and the lack of exercise, its a wonder that we are even still alive into our 40s. the US has grown fat and lazy with all the foods that we have chosen. salts and fats and low nutritional value have destroyed America.

becuase, fast food is such a big thing over there, also because they have a big population, and compared to a place like australia, they would have more fat people, but no necerceraly a higher percentage

We tend to eat high sodium high fat foods and lead a very sedentary lifestyle. Our culture also tends to be over worked and over stressed with very little down time. We start our children out like that at a young age eating in drive throughs and allowing them to sit in front of the tv, video games, and computers all day.

Alot is from Diabetes, change in diets, less physical activities, tobacco use, High blood pressure, High cholesterol’s, over weight, and obesity. All this can and does take a toll on a human heart.Theses are the major reasons for cardiovascular disease. With high consumptions of saturated fats , salts, refined carbohydrates and less fruits and vegetables in a persons diet. These will cluster and cause blockage. This does affect major arteries and veins to all major organs and the big one the most( HEART).

Because most people there don’t seem to understand that they must eat a healthy diet, no excuses. They seem to feel that they can do as they please and then go to their doctor for a pill to make everything better.

They value convenience over everything and processed and pre-prepared foods are rampant there. Most people there haven’t the faintest idea how to [or inclination to] cook whole healthy foods instead of just buying garbage to put into their bodies. So, they fill their diets with trans fats and other artery-clogging foods and then just expect to take a pill to make it all go away [it doesn't work].

Another reason is that junk food is cheap and plentiful in the States and good food [fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains and such] are expensive and people just don’t understand why they should spend more money on good food.

According to my cardiologist, our diets and smoking are the two greatest factors in developing cardiovascular disease. Everyone associates lung cancer with smoking, but don’t realize how much it actually effects the arteries. It can cause your body to release a substance that is like glue and sticks to the sides of the arteries. A diet high in fat and cholesterol does this too. We are a society that loves our fast food and eating out, but many of us don’t pay attention to how our food is prepared. The food itself may be fine, but preparation can make a huge difference in how it effects our body. When I had to get stents in some of my arteries, the doctor told me that it would be almost be a waste of time to do it if I did not quit smoking. (I did) Two doctors attributed much of my artery disease to smoking for so many years.. In many cases, artery disease can be an inherited disease as can high cholesterol. What we do with our body can make it even worse.
