How much should I drink?

Trade W asked:

I’m a 36-year old male in decent shape. Should I have one alcoholic drink every evening to reduce the likelihood of cardiovascular diseases and heart attacks? There’s no history of that in my family, but is it a good idea anyway? Or should I wait until I’m older to do that? Is there a chance I might become an alcoholic if I drink every day, even if it’s just one drink?
Thanks

FDA and restrictions on portion breakdown? What is the ideal “Portion size”? Do we even have one?

K!d-x asked:

Why are Americans so fat? The theory: “More food, more hunger? Or maybe the FDA has failed to tell us/them what an “ideal portion size” is. Read the facts and they all state different. So why don’t we have an ideal portion size? The most common conventional cause of death in industrialized countries (USA) is cardiovascular disease. Some cereals look very healthy, but read carefully… Example: Serving size: 1Cup. Others read: serving size 1/2 Cup. with 200plus calories P/S. (Who really eats 1/2 cup) A bag of 99cent Potatoe chips seems OK, right? Read carefully: 2.5-3.0 servings in everybag with 200 calories P/S. So why has the FDA failed to put restrictions and an “ideal portion size” Why do Fast food companies keep deceiving the consumer? Why are they allowed to break down the portions as they please? Should the FDA do something about it?
